FAO seburn or DrTCP settings gurus

Also use Tweakmaster and Cablenut (Good).
DR.TCP is Ok for quick changes. I use Tweakmaster for more detailed settings and cablenut if I realy want to guru the registry. All in vain of course due to Telkom shaping. Tweakmaster unfortunately also load firefox accelerator. I am not sure if this is so good. I do somtimes find the data when these programs is used differ, indicating it is not alwaya realtime from registry ???

I aggree with Gres except not with the optimin settitngs that tcpOptimizer gives.
I found my settings in my sig to work the best after extensive testing and the fact they come straight from helpdesk also helps.
As to the question posed :
If you are using one pc to access iburst set the dial up ras mtu and not the network one. This helps if wanna network later ect. It also "capps" mtu on iburst connection level rather than network level st net level need not me "capped"
If using ICS then you should be able to do above and not worry about other pc's mtu.
If using more than one and Ipcop you don't have to set mtu on other pcs if you ave on ipcop but if you have not set all lan mtu's on all pc's
If using router then the situation is similar to ipcop but some routers don't alllow mtu to be set so have to set all lan mtus on all pcs as above

You have not seen CAblenut settings Yet. Many more to see and select. Tweakmaster let You set individual TCPiP interfaces as well as global independantly.

Just remember fidling with registry without knowing the effects can be bad news. Be carefull. Create restorepoint before You Do

Finally got hold of WBS Helpdesk WRT continuous disconnections. I was told to download DrTCP021 run it and change my settings as follows:
TCP Recieve Window: 255555
Window Scaling: Yes
Time Stamp: No
Selective Ack's: Yes
Dial (RAS) MTU: 1352
Path MTU Discovery: Yes
Black Hole Detection: No
Max Duplicate Ack's: 1
TTL: 64
Any comments?

thats just their reccomendation from a manual they sent to the helpdesk people (I have a copy of that pdf manual), its set that low to avoid packet fragmentation no matter where you are or what the frame error rate and signal are (not even mentioning basestation saturation)
it can be considered as a safe value but if your connection is alright i would advise you to get adventurous and try higher values, you will not get 120+ KB/s on a single international thread with a maximum packet size of 1352 bytes very often.
Its not to say you cant get full speed, you can but you gotta multithread it or go local.

pupa: on dsl the object is to set the MTU as high as you can without fragmentation so you can get that little bit of extra performance, with wireless services the latancy and fragmentation levels vary so its good to have a low (but not unusably low) MTU to avoid fragmentation all together or else you'll be changing MTU daily

I tried these settings last night and iBurst disconnected twice after a few minutes - I then reverted back to my old settings and no probs (never had any disconnects before with my old settings but will always try something new). Am at work now so don't have my iburst settings available - will post later.
