Description:
The Company requires one (1) Senior System Engineer (systems administrator) for the maintenance, management and support of the Company’s data centre infrastructure.
This is an on-going project which forms part of the Company’s Information
Technology operations programme.
2.2. Project
Some of the responsibilities will include the following:
2.2.1 Server hardware and software support;
2.2.2 Extensive knowledge of Microsoft Active directory on Server 2003 / 2008
2.2.3 Knowledge of Exchange 2003 / 2007 and IIS / Exchange 2010;
2.2.4 Ensures that provincial support is done;
2.2.5 Manages and monitors anti-virus products across organisation;
2.2.6 Manages and monitors patch management across organisation;
2.2.7 Resolves third level problems;
2.2.8 Maintains 99.999% uptime of servers;
2.2.9 Server maintenance and monitoring including knowledge of SCOM
2.2.10 Monitors and maintains the load balanced internet information servers (IIS);
2.2.11 Is responsible for the overall infrastructure architecture, including compliance with security architecture.
2.2.12 Knowledge of Firewalls
2.2.13 Knowledge of Microsoft ISA, VPN technologies and certificate services
2.2.14 Manages the a team of engineers (systems administrators);
2.2.15 Reviews change requests for completeness and analyses, prioritises, categorises, approves, and schedules change requests;
2.2.16 Monitors the successful completion of all change requests, including change planning, building, testing, and implementation to ensure that these processes follow the change schedule;
2.2.17 Reviews and evaluates the change process;
2.2.18 Manages and monitors the storage area network;
2.2.19 Knowledge of Microsoft Clustering services
2.2.20 Manages the VMWare environment;
2.2.21 Schedule and perform maintenance of systems;
2.2.22 Evaluates new technologies and prepares documentation. 2.3. Skills Requirements
The Senior System Engineer will be the Team Lead for the management, maintenance and support of the COMPANY IT infrastructure in conjunction with other system administrators, database administrators and system maintenance personnel. It is therefore crucial that the proposed candidate have the following;
2.3.1 Deep skills and experience in Microsoft Operating Systems and Applications with the following certifications:
2.3.2 MCSE 2003 with Exchange 2003 as an elective or Exchange 2007 and IIS / Exchange 2010;
2.3.3 MCITP Enterprise Administrator (Microsoft Certified IT Professional) on Windows Server 2008;
2.3.4 VCP 310 / VCP 410 (VMWare 3.5 / VSphere 4 Certified)
2.3.5 MCDBA will be an advantage
It is further recommended that the candidate should have experience in Troubleshooting and problem solving technical issues
Deep skills and experience in designing and implementing IT solutions
