I have been using Telkom 3G from February this year, and the performance was great. I actually posed the results here:

http://mybroadband.co.za/vb/showthread.php/216559-Telkom-3G-Huawei-E960-Test-Results-1-Feb-2010

From 22 August 2010, I have had degrading network performance.
First the ping degraded from typical values of ~ 110ms up to 197ms and 200ms.
So expecting it to be temporary, I waited until 4 September 2010 and complained:
Ref No: 1CTJ040910. Promises of the problem being addressed.
Result: Nothing.

At start of October I noticed that HLSW could no longer trace route each hop back to the main game servers, it seems all the ICMP packets are now stopped. I can only see my pc, eHome (Hauwei E960 gateway) and then final destination everything else in between is gone (but really slow).

Then from ~ 12 October the network got a lot worse, I could not connect by HSDPA any more, only WCDMA with 384 kbit up down max and suddenly my signal strength has decreased from 95% down to 18% <-> 45% best case (and I am closer than 400meters from the tower!)

Thus I complained again on 19 October 2010: Ref No: 10CTJ201010. I inquired about the previous complaint? "No that problem has been cleared" I still have the problem?!

Telkom (0809 999 991) promised that they will 'come out and look' at it [whatever that means].

Update: Today I was informed that many networks are having problems (in Pretoria?) with the roaming setup between ?MTN? and Telkom.

My bandwidth and ping has now been like this for more than a week (during the evening):

It seems that in the middle of the day the best I can get is:

I have tried my laptop in case it was the desktop and no, the results are the same.

When is Telkom going to FIX this? It is costing R 489.00 per month for this level of service?!
