For almost a month now, I'm battling because of my iTunes/store account.
Until last month I used MTN 3G network to use the Internet, but as our demands grew, we decided to go for ADSL. After a extensive search, we choose for JustSurf from Axxess. Within no time we were up and running except for two minor (I thought) things. Last weeks I've tried to "tame" my modem/router, but no luck so far.
Tonight (Fri 29 okt) I had the time to call technical support. A really nice guy told me that JustSurf "blocked" that particular port for iTunes. Unfortunately for that guy, I was not very happy and really wanted a solution. But he could not offer it.
Why boarder? Well iTunes store needs to be connected in order to sync a iPhone. Music, applications and back-up needs a live connection with the Apple servers. Not to sync over the Internet, but Apple checks whether your music and apps are legal (and whether you nee updates). Moreover, now I not only can't synchronise and receive updates, also buying a new app or music via the iTunes store is impossible.
The second problem is the in-app account of Skype. Within Skype it is not possible to access your Skype account. Apparently Skype uses the same port.
If they told this policy before (one can't find this pitfall on their website, or anywhere), I would have never, never choose this JustSurf service.
I know JustSurf is not meant for heavy multimedia downloads, but this is really ridiculous. One should be able to synchronise an iPhone and to install some apps (most of them do not exceed several Mb's).
I really want to put some pressure on this. I've no problem with the restrictions of the JustSurf account (restrain yourself in downloads), but this looks like cheating customers…
