For almost a month now, I'm battling because of my iTunes/store account.

Until last month I used MTN 3G network to use the Internet, but as our demands grew, we decided to go for ADSL. After a extensive search, we choose for JustSurf from Axxess. Within no time we were up and running except for two minor (I thought) things. Last weeks I've tried to "tame" my modem/router, but no luck so far.

Tonight (Fri 29 okt) I had the time to call technical support. A really nice guy told me that JustSurf "blocked" that particular port for iTunes. Unfortunately for that guy, I was not very happy and really wanted a solution. But he could not offer it.

Why boarder? Well iTunes store needs to be connected in order to sync a iPhone. Music, applications and back-up needs a live connection with the Apple servers. Not to sync over the Internet, but Apple checks whether your music and apps are legal (and whether you nee updates). Moreover, now I not only can't synchronise and receive updates, also buying a new app or music via the iTunes store is impossible.

The second problem is the in-app account of Skype. Within Skype it is not possible to access your Skype account. Apparently Skype uses the same port.

If they told this policy before (one can't find this pitfall on their website, or anywhere), I would have never, never choose this JustSurf service.

I know JustSurf is not meant for heavy multimedia downloads, but this is really ridiculous. One should be able to synchronise an iPhone and to install some apps (most of them do not exceed several Mb's).

I really want to put some pressure on this. I've no problem with the restrictions of the JustSurf account (restrain yourself in downloads), but this looks like cheating customers…

For R99 , you can get 5gb of unshaped data from axxess.... It's not that you going to get more out of the JustSurf account in any event.

Justsurf is an absolutely deplorable abomination, you cannot even surf with it.
I would have been happier rolling a R100 note and some tar into a cigar and smoking that.

And, AXXESS lied about being able to upgrade the package, they have lost my support completely.

My guess is you want to download music from iTunes, but you're annoyed that Axxess won't let you, so you're taking out your frustrations on the mybb forum.

Which is the reason this forum exists. Now other people who want access to iTunes and Skype will know not to buy this account.

LMFAO!! He said he would rather use a R100 note with poisonus tar and turn it into a f'n cigar rather than use Axxess! lmfao!!!!

+1!!

Axxess must really suck!

Dude. You buy an account that's called " just surf" and expect itunes and skype to work.

It's called "just surf" for a reason.

Actually, goto http://axxess.co.za/ and look at the Just Surf product picture.
- Uncapped Internet
- Simple
- Affordable
- Internet
= Extremely deceptive

Okay, now click on the picture and look at the details:
- NORMAL WEB BROWSING
= There's the lie, normal web browsing would imply that you could open up an internet browser and browse the web as per normal.
What is normal on a 384 line nowadays? Well, actually, it's the ability to browse at 30 - 39 kilo bytes per second.

This product never reaches 20 kilo bytes per second, which is far from normal, the typical experience on Just Surf is 50% of normal.

Test used: Google for : GIF animation, pick any site and watch the pathetic throughput on the useless product.

The product is an outright lie.

I dunno when i first saw this product my first thought was this must be an account that you can only use to surf the web.

Maybe the name is a little wrong i mean just surf could mean anything i guess :p

Thanks for the many reply's,

I shortly want to comment on some:

1) when JustSurf came out, their website mentioned explicit that one can surf, E-mail, use Skype etc. The only restriction they made is do not consume heavy downloads. From the beginning Axxess did not say: "We called it JustSurf, so the only thing you can do is just surf." Nope Axxess brought a really competitive offer to the market, on which I stepped in (is this proper English? Sorry for that, English is not my native language).

2) iTunes is not an "excessive Internet using program", moreover it is a program with which one can surf the iTune store. Yes, one can order a movie and download it, but —according to the agreement I made with Axxess— I promised not to do so. What I do with iTunes is searching for Apps for my phone and I use iTunes to sync the same phone. With the present "port-block" this is not possible. Actually Axxess violated our agreement with this decision, because I can not just surf within iTunes!

3) Of course I'm upset and therefore I decided to share my experiences via this board. I did not offended anyone, but described what happened and mentioned the consequences for me. Moreover I believe that, one customer isn't of a big issue to big companies (though it should) and therefore fora like these are a tremendous contribution to the "supply and demand" model of the market.

4) thanks for the advices regarding the R95/99 accounts. I will look into that (I don't think that a change to a different ISP will improve much) and give them/me a second chance.
