Is anyone here running a froyo rom on an HTC HD2. I'm looking to buy a new phone and would really like one that can run a froyo ROM. How does a HTC HD2 running a froyo rom compare to an HTC Desire running froyo?

there are many videos on youtube just search "HTC HD2 Froyo 2.2". slightly jitterish (but nothing to cry about)

Why are you not going to wait for the Desire HD coming in like a week or 2?

The HD2 should be faster as it has a 1Ghz cpu. I am also looking into this as I have a friend with a HD2, running windows. (puke)

No it wont be. The Desire HD has a newer 1GHz CPU that is more powerful and it has more RAM. You can't compare how powerful a CPU is based purely on clockspeed.
Of course, with the money you save it's still not a bad idea I guess.

I can vouch that Android 2.2 runs 100% perfect and certainly much faster than windows mobile on the HTC HD2. Download the rom from xda developers -

Why not just go for the HTC Desire HD ... comes out with 2.2 already and is faster - ... also has HD Recording.

Yes, I saw some vids but it's often difficult to see which build they have and how well it is actually working.

I don't have money for an HTC Desire. I'm a student and it seems I can get a fairly new HD2 for +-R3000. Desire's seem to be around R5000. I don't take much video with my cell phone so I'm not willing to pay R2000 for HD video recording.

Is there a shop, business or person in Pta area who offer this kind of service. Use a HD2 as a spare phone and would love to run it with android. Rather pay somebody to do it before I produce a brick.

Hmm, I wouldn't mind getting paid to do this. But I don't live anywhere near you and screwing up someone else's phone could be a bigger headache than screwing up my own phone.
Although I don't think it's all that risky if you follow the instructions well and take any recommended precautions.

Yes, they seem to be quite easy to flash.
