Are vodacom's blackberry 8520's networked locked?

I just bought a blackberry 8520 from vodacom( vodafone branded) and want to know if i can use my mtn sim card. will everything work???
 
... though I'm pretty sure the void your warranty - just FYI
 
How can they tell if the warranty is void by simply changing sim cards?
 
They will not void the warranty if you change sim cards, they not allowed to, you own the phone. Provided the other networks sim was not the cause of the fault everything will be fine.

You don't own the phone until the end of the 24 months (unless you've bought it outright)

I'm pretty sure they'll void if you change it to another network. Was asked again just last week. Maybe someone can confirm?
 
Primo - the system can see the last SIM used in the phone when connected to the network.

Yes Dom, I did just that and it works like a charm! Any luck yet?
 
If you find it locked wipe it and load the MTN firmware
 
I have a Vodacom 8520 as well as a Torch 2 and both are running with Cell C sims in them, and I didn't do any thing special to them.

As for the warranty yes I can not take the phone back to Vodacom to claim a repair, however I can take it direct to the manufacturers authorised repair centre, with my proof of purchase and they will have to honor the manufacturers warranty.

Network locked phones are not allowed in South Africa.
