As newly elected ministers get to work on Tuesday, Social Development Minister Bathabile Dlamini said she will get the entire cabinet to fight poverty.
She was sworn in along with other ministers and deputy ministers at the Presidential Guest House in Pretoria on Monday. President Jacob Zuma re-shuffled his cabinet on Sunday.
She said she knows what her priority is.
“We are going to ensure that we move faster and try and work with other departments because it is not only Social Development that will eradicate poverty,” said Dlamini.
Meanwhile, Public Enterprises Minister Malusi Gigaba said he is not worried about tackling the problems of his ministry.
He is now responsible for Eskom at a time when its security of power supply is considered vulnerable. He also has to deal with management issues at Transnet, Sentech and other parastatals.
Gigaba said he has got nothing to worry about.
“I am confident of the capability of the team that I will be working with,” said Gigaba.
