Spoke to a salesman at Dion Wired at Woodlands in Pretoria.
He assured me they have modems and sims for 2&5 gig.
He is not sure about the sims only forR999 and R1999.
He promised me to come back:D

Shaun came back to me within 3 minutes.
They will only launch on the 11th.
They have stock of modems with sims. The sims only special promotion is not for sale yet, or they don't have starter packs in stock yet.

According to one of the users in other thread he already bought one in Dion wired in Grove mall.

Just got 60GB bundle from Dion Wired in Cedar Square in Fourways.
 
Mmmmm it's a little patchy right now. Keeps changing over from gprs to edge to hsdpa.
I suppose they are trying to get their network right before the launch in JHB.
I got 100% signal strength just now, but it dropped down to 38%.

When it's on hspa+ it FLIES!!!

Awesome stuff, hope their towers can handle the users once it's on full capacity. :)
 
Something strange is happening today. It's been stuck on the green light (EDGE or GPRS) but it's still FLYING like a M**f***er

Phone first!!! I went to Woodmead first and they were sold out. They phoned around for me and I got it from Cedar Square

Thanks for the post. I actually forgot that i have a Edgars account. So i can buy from Edagrs using the account. I dont need to keep the cash ready.
EDIT: I think edgars will only sell after launch.

My gf has the dongle at the moment. Says it was saying edge this morning but downloading 150-200KB/s... weird... I also noticed on edge last night it wasn't as good but it was jumping between 0 and 70KB/s or so.
 
I just bought the last 5gig dongle from Woodlands in Pretoria, but I think I'm going to stay Failburst. I can't handle 3 disconnects a minute. Anyway I got about 4mbps in Pierre v.Ryneveld (Centurion).
 
We need to give them a chance to get it right first. That's why they haven't launched it in Gauteng yet.
I wish they'd switch off their EDGE transmitters altogether. Although the "EDGE" speeds I've been getting have been awsome.

Hopefully all shops will get stock again before launch. Otherwise it will be useless for them to launch.
 
How cant I test it at my location before buying? /don't want to buy it and find out that it doesn't work...
 
Same. Well you need friend with Cell C and a phone or modem which supports 3G at 900Mhz then you can test it. I have a Cell C SIM, my friend has a Nokia 5800 which should do, so I wanna try it!

Or just wait a few days for the official launch then we'll have a coverage map from Cell C.
