Job Purpose
To work within the Development team, developing high quality Java code to contribute to our
core technology platform.
Role
· Ensure on time and on budget project delivery by defining, estimating, and managing
the completion of project tasks
· Resolution of technical issues arising in the day-to-day operation of solutions
· Responsible for mentoring and providing technical direction to other team members
· Implementing development and QA standards, controls and processes as a technical
lead
Experience
· 8+ years as a Java development engineer
· Strong experience in XML development, Web technologies (HTML, CSS, AJAX,
Javascript), Web Services, Databases, and Enterprise software development.
· Have proven track record of leading small/medium sized teams (2 – 10 engineers) and
delivering projects on time and with high quality.
· Desirable Certifications: Sun Certified Java Programmer, Sun Certified Java
Developer
· Experience of coordinating with remote teams
· Bachelor or Honors degree in an IT related discipline (first class pass advantage)
· Knowledge of travel industry an advantage but not essential
Personal Attributes
· Strong leadership skills with ability to motivate team
· Excellent problem solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
· Good presentation skills and ability to communicate effectively with technical and
non-technical staff.
· Strong customer focus
· Experience of coordinating with remote teams an advantage
