Are those screenshots really 1280x960?
I ask because I they seem more like 1024x768 when I viewed them.

Well I would certainly say the 7800GT is worth the buy - although this doesn't compare the 2 directly, you surely would know the GTX is way better than the 6800GT.

Yeah, but GTX = $$$$

Too expensive for me. :) I'm looking at the normal 7800GT compaired to the 6800GT and the price dif versus power dif. Is the 7800GT worth it for what you pay extra?

Yeah but what the benchmarks tell you are that the 7800GT is very near the GTX in terms of the benchmarks [ a bit of overclocking would make it a stock GTX ].

So it works like this:

GTX - - > 7800GT - - > Ultra - - > 6800GT

Edit: And the difference is only R500 [Rectron] so it's really a no-brainer.

The screenies - It's only 1 so far with the new card. I keep forgetting to take more :p
It was mainly just the heli shadow I was after anyway.

Also, I haven't even tried to tweak my system yet, other than setting a graphics boost option in the bios to turbo. That gave me an extra 200 points without even trying. I was too eager to give BF2 a run. ;)

MP/s

So I got all inspired by this thread and downloaded an Nvidia reg tweak which I used to oc my FX5200 (yes I can hear you laughing)

...at any rate PCpitstop tells me that my video performance is 156.18 MP/s but before I did the tweak my performance was 165.7 MP/s.

In both test cases the CPU was overclocked.

before the CPU was oc'd the performance was 200.13 MP/s

Is this weird or do I just have no idea what I'm talking about?

and here I was getting excited about my measly 3500 3dmark05 points :/
