Which phones would you say is at the top at the moment?

These are the phone I think (you may not agree with me) are in the top of it's class with diferent users in mind. With different users I mean those who like multimedia, those who use for business, and those who like to play.

In no particular order:

Blackberry Torch
Blackberry Bold 2
iPhone 4
iPhone 3GS
Nokia N8
HTC Desire
Samsung Galaxy S
Motorola XT720


Anything else? Or anything that doesn't belong here?

Pleasure: Galaxy
 
Andriod: Motorola XT720
Maemo: Nokia N900

The HTC Desire is by far the most powerful in recent times. Galaxy is is close
 
i still like my iPhone 3G..... :)

might switch to BB Torch or WP7 next year when my contract is up... but fot the moment, my iPhone 3G still works great and am very happy with it.

Just stay away from an iPad or an iPhone 4......you might not be so happy with your iPhone 3G anymore.

I had to configure a work colleagues iPad, which she bought in the UK, and my 3G felt so slow after working on the iPad. :sick:
 
you can't put the iPhone 3GS and not put the original HTC Desire?

Just saying, those two phones are neck and neck

edit: the HTC HD7 and Samsungs Omnia 7 have gotten good reviews so far (even though WP7 isnt released commercially in SA yet)

Yes, maybe I should just put the phones there that's available currently.
 
Media: Samsung Galaxy S.
Business for old people: Blackberry Torch.
Business for young/technical people: HTC Desire HD.

Quite a few phones at the high end to choose from, depends what's important to you.

I agree, we caught Piesang napping.

He's not up-to-date with the latest Windows Phone 7 & Android phones, which is just a shocker. :p

I must say, I don't have a clue what Android phones are available that's worth looking at. Then I must also say, that I know about the Win 7 phones but as everybody knows I'm not a Windows Mobile fan at all so the chance that I know anything about them is zero.

To add to that, RIM has been keeping me occupied for more than a year now and I wont use anything else for a primary phone again.
 
Everything: Samsung Galaxy S
Reasoning: Highest specced device, finally on Froyo, best display, and lightest.

Multimedia: 3.5mm headphone jack, TV out, plays divX and 720p MKV files natively, and can stream over AV cable.
Business: Highest onboard storage, full connectivity suite, bundles with an MS office compatible suit.
Pleasure: The AMOLED display is magnificent for reading ebooks from the kindle store, not much else to say.

I've installed Trillian on mine, so I can sync my chat between my pc, notebook and phone, so I am never out of contact.

I use it for mp3's all day, and it still sits at 30%+ when I go back to bed and put it on charge.

The only problems with it are lack of flash in the camera, and the damned usb cable is not miniusb.

One would think that the highest specced device would at least come with a flash :p

Yeah, but afaik it's still lagging behind on the graphics front, no tv out, and imo 4.3 inches is a little beyond pocket size.

Will be interesting to see quadrant comparisons vs real life tests though.
