Article: Japanese man commits suicide live on internet

Lately I find many things in this world disturbring copa. The things that people do to others, to themselves just defies my understanding and comprehension. Enough to make you lose hope for humanity. I have always toyed with the idea of what it would be like to be a dad....I have put that idea out of my head. No ways I want to bring a child into this world as it is now.

I find it pretty disturbing that people would encourage someone to die.
My maths teacher used to say, "if your friend wants to kill himself & you see he's going to use a rope, stop him & instead offer him a chain as that's unlikely to break".

Thats incredibly disturbing and to a degree I agree with you oc.... bringing a child into this world is something that I wouldn't want to do atm....

I bet your parents said that, and theirs before..... All good then.

Your maths teacher sounds like a moron.

I have to agree. I am an uncle now, that's where I draw the line I think. Although if I am ever in a position to do so, I would adopt perhaps, as there are surely many kids who need a home?

:erm:

It's sounds as if he would've done it regardless of being bullied.

That's not the point really. If someone says 'I'm going to kill myself' what the **** sort of reaction is it to encourage them? The ****ing impersonal horror of the internet at work here.

Pretty sure he would've done it without the livestream or the people egging him on. His decision was made and he wanted his death to be noticed. We're all discussing it. Its what he wanted.

Bullying is a scourge. It has lead to many deaths all over the world. As far as I'm concerned, a bully is a potential murderer. Only no one ever gets arrested for bullying someone to suicide.

The suicide rate in Japan is aparently quite high.Maybe someone can post some stats but judging by the movies they make those Japs seriously need some help.

As copacetic said, "That's not the point really. If someone says 'I'm going to kill myself' what the **** sort of reaction is it to encourage them? The ****ing impersonal horror of the internet at work here". (quoted because I couldn't have said it better and more colourfully.)

the internet brings many joys to this world... but it would appear it also heralds a deep darkness :(

Oh ffs. Just make sure you have the resources(a good job, some savings, and a backup plan), have kid s if you think you could make their life different from this what guy here got. Those kids may also acquire phd's someday to find a real solution to what may have bothered this man so much.

I suppose I should mention that my life is a bit disastrous and I don't really want kids in any case. I am also somewhat depressed, which may be clouding my judgement here. :p

Maybe. But if some random twerp announces to the internet that he's going to kill himself live on his webcam, the kneejerk reaction is going to be: "Get on with it then!"

If a friend of mine calls me up and tells me the same thing, I'm driving to his place at top speed and screw anyone who tries to stop me.

It helps to choose your audience...

Those kids may also acquire phd's someday to find a real solution to what may have bothered this man so much. They could also accompany you when you need company most (just don't let that be on a hospital bed when you rather had to give all the money to the children and couldn't afford the surgery either..).

If you can't afford it, DO NOT HAVE KIDS, PLEASE, for everybodies sake. What this world needs is solutions(thus have kids if you could afford them), not more challenges.

+1 When you have kids just make sure their part of the solution.
