Vodacom CEO Pieter Uys interview: No stopping Vodacom broadband

I would have wanted them to dwell more into the Cell C competition, but Pieter side stepped that one really nicely by just complementing them.
 
I'm sorry, but this was an absolute tragic read. For all of the scathing, honest, consumer centric and supposedly independent pieces I've read by Hilton Tarrant before: this was sickening to read. The two of them should've gotten a room. This just seemed like a promo for Vodacom, a press release! Lame... And on things broadband; Is Vodacom not meant to stop using that term anymore?

Seconded! Although it is from moneyweb, so its more a shareholders look on the whole thing, not really consumer based.
 
Hilton seems to be in a bit of a rut lately. Hopefully he can pull himself out of the pit he has fallen into.

Strange though, since BMI Tech(Biased)Knowledge usually tend to do what Hilton Tarrant has done. The worst thing is, they get away with it since not many people have much in-depth knowledge and try to pass off someone's biased opinion as "the facts".

This is what is funny. Vodacom are tied with MTN for last place in the market. => No value whatsoever.
 
PIETER UYS: The South African competitive environment is very competitive at the moment, all four competitors at the moment offering good value to the consumers. MTN is still strong, Cell C launched their data office, they're in six or seven cities already with good value there, Telkom launched also their contract office yesterday. So that keeps us on our toes and we have to come up with innovative products and we will continue to do that. We will continue to offer our customers best value, best products in the market.

Gee, I would never have guessed that a competitive environment couldn't be competitive, oh but wait, when it was just vodascum and emptyen I suppose the competitive environment was more collusive, not that much has changed, I hope that Cell C and 8ta really give the bloodsuckers a run for their money, must be tough when you can still report a net profit of R4,3-billion for the six months! Big profits mean big screwing over of customers

VodaCom profits = way up, their broadband prices = way up.

Money in our pockets as SA customers/consumers = way down, our moral as SA customers = way down.

They have this game figured out. No one is regulating VodaCom or any company in SA. This is simply pathetic.

Exactly, so the onus is on the SA public!!! Not to sign anything with Vodacom, and support the companies that are pushing for more consumer friendly services, aka CellC.

Is it just me or does this interview seem completely "share and profit" based, ie. making share holders keep confidence while Cell C is running circles around them with pricing. (And hopefully very soon share and profit growth)
