Privacy under threat due to internet snooping

Internet snooping has become a global phenomenon with China preying on dissidents emails, the United Arab Emirates demanding BlackBerry turn over user data and the South African Protection of Information Bill allowing as much curbing of information as that which it protects.
 
I know all about people SNOOPING! I was recently blackmailed into doing what others said under the threat of widespread dissemination of private information and pictures should I not acquiesce and do exactly as I was told. This is due to Google indexing Facebook. I have written to both protesting the indexing but both have stated that it's public information and that I ought not to have published that which should not be there, even under a pseudonym. Consequently even though my Constitutional Rights to Privay, Freedom of Expression and Freedom of Association have been seriously violated, I have no recourse for civil action against the blackmailers.
 
Why people still can't understand why I refuse to open a facebook, or similar account is beyond me really. You put it on the internet and you expose yourself to the world, miss-fits, deviants, crackpots, psychopaths, the lot. No thanks, I'll pass.
 
What scares me more is that companies think they have the right to dictate what you do after hours. They own my ass for 8 hours a day because of the contract I have with them, surely my private life is just that, private? Not getting a diploma for posting a 'drunken pirate' photo? Madness. Methinks she should have sued for all the overtime instead .. after all if what I do after hours has that affect on my working hours I'd expect to be paid for being on a 24/7 retainer.
 
Googling myself only gives info on my cousin. Sjoe
 
Already the US administration makes thousands of requests each month to Yahoo and Google for user information - and receives it.

No man dont tellz people these things. My work Colleagues might read this and stop having hot chats with with people on FB MSN and skype and there go's my entertainment. People sending files via MSN and Skype that include dodgey pics.

If people dont know it by now they will never know it anyways. If its connected its free.... Here is a tip "HTTPS" or encryption needs to be used at all times. Even our Directors in a major IT Company still uses clear txt unencrypted means of sending very sensitive info.

EDIT/ Just read that last bit of my post... think its time for a raise. :D
