Information bill may be narrowed and linked to PAIA

On the face of it, seems like a move in a positive direction. If there are any holes the opposition will probably show them up. But for now, they seem to be in agreement...

What is national security and intelligence these days?
Considering the issues at hand, this way too wide. I mean Zuma is still under suspicion and it could be argued that the reporting on the SP threatens the state.
 
The ANC plan is working perfectly. They knew if they started at this point there would be an outcry, so they went and proposed a completely ridiculously over-the-top bill, knowing there would be an outcry, then they pretend to back down and "narrow" the scope of the bill, only to end up with exactly what they wanted. Do not underestimate the duplicity and back-handedness of the ANC.
 
I totally agree with you Valis. This Law is taking us back to 1910’s
 
Wait a minute .. if we already have such a 'unique' Protection of Access to Information Act bill, why is this new Protection of Information Bill needed? Are the ANC trying to take away some of our freedoms that was negotiated when they took over in 1994? Sounds like they're trying to pass a bill to counter a decision that was made then, or am I wrong?

The press can overthrow the Government at the rate that corruption is being exposed. Way back in the Stalin regime, who's clampdown on the press and nationalizing it, protected communism until about 1990. ANC is trying this with the SACP fueling the flames. Once the press is stumped, anarchy and plunder can go on without debate and unexposed.
