Samsung Galaxy S and Froyo

was supposed to be "beginning of November"... but now its... "By year end"... Really fckn slack from Samsung.

Its so fd up. How come in other Industries, you know when things are being released. Come on samsung sa. Work harder. Froyo here and froyo in europe cannot be that different! Youre just being lazy! And im getting irate!

question. Does the update depend on the origin of your phone? Or the origin of where you download from?

I read on AndroidOS.in yesterday that they Samsung wants to complete all rolling out updates by end November because they want to start rolling out 2.2 for other models

This sucks bigtime, atleast with iPhone everybody knows the upgrade date. Android may be a good OS, but the upgrading process is so damn broken.

Eish! Bad Luck is all over around me. My Samsung Galaxy S screen is cracked and the Gorilla glass is still intact no scractch whatsoever, what's even worse the phone did not fall, it was in my front pocket

What I mean is that certain cellphone carriers get personalised os revisions installed and don't allow software updates (eg nokia 5800 xpressmusic). I wanna know if the Galaxy S gonna be the same.

+1 Running the EU version, and it's happy.

Don't forget to OCLF your device, makes it feel 10x smoother.

How did you get the EU one running? If I tunnel through a European proxy, will the update show up on Kies?

It is the lagfix. I used it before I upgraded to froyo, made it feel really fast, but when I still got a bit of lag sometimes. With froyo I just use the ext 4 filesystem and it work really well. Froyo is definitely much better than the previous one.

JPO + CF root + OCLF here...

Couldnt wait any longer!!!

Warranty void ? Non to begin with.. It started off as an Orange branded i9000

Yes, all versions of galaxy s will get froyo. Rollout has started but its regional and carrier specific. I have been running 2.2 for 2 month on mine and the official version through Kies for 3 weeks. Have a European version though. Unbranded SA versions will probably get updated in December. Branded ones, who knows... That'll depend on the carriers
