Great. JHB Launch. But a few close places left out. Like Alberton, Roodepoort, Germiston

Coverage Map

Any idea when us poor souls can get in on some of the action.

I'm in Little Falls - near Weltevreden Park. Wondering if I'll get any signal... don't want to go buy the thing and it doesn't work! I do pick up a Cell C 3G network though...

I could be wrong but if you do pick up 3G signal you are in business. There is always a 7 day return.

Cell C 21 mbps hspa+ Coverage Krugersdorp

I visited the Cell C shop at Keywest the other day and according to them the tower for our area has already been erected, but not switched on.

Does anybody have more info on roll out plans for Gauteng? The coverage map only shows partial coverage for Gauteng at the moment. I would really like to purchase the R2999 special but not until I know for sure that there is coverage in my area and what the quality is like.

Same for Honeydew Ridge. Tower erected but not switched on yet. I'm picking up from Weltevreden Park. Not too bad.

I am in Roodepoort and I am guessing the tower nearest me is on the top of the shopping centre across the road from me, every other tower seems to be up there. If I knew what I was looking for, I would be able to confirm through closer inspection using some binoculars. Anyone know what is unique looking about a Cell C tower.

DO NOT believe the coverage map folks. even areas that say they have full coverage might not have. That does not just mean you will be slightly slower but dramatically so. Like a few kbps instead of the 21Mbps promised. So slow that speedtest.net just times out and you can't even get to do a test. I bought a R3000 stick and have been able to do nothing with it so far. I have lost my first months data as I could not download anything it was so slow. They have 'escalated' the problem and even given me a reference number -yay. wooooshh? more like yaaawwn.

All the Boer areas left without Cell C 3G  But Soweto is deep in the dark red zone :D

I am in Weltevredenpark, (26° 7'51.86"S and 27°55'12.87"E) and only getting EDGE at the moment - I've tried to stand outside, but with same result. Does anyone have clarity on where the Weltevreden tower is situated?

Cell-C coverage Krugersdorp

I've got the 21.6MB stick for data on my PC, located in Krugersdorp, Quellerie Park, Schoeman St., it works but very slow! Can anyone comment?

Allot of areas are not covered. And yes, do not trust the coverage map. Try to test your area first before buying. I lost out on a half a month of data. The funny part is that they came out to test my area and picked up that I do not have 3g coverage. I tried one more option and it worked. I just got a Usb extention cable, put through window and magic! 3g cover. Before I only used to get 0.50 to 0.100 Mbps. Now I get 3.5Mbps. How do you explain this! I'm staying in the Randburg, Kyasands area. At the Cell C shop in Northgate, the guy told me once they got close to 20Mbps! The tower is right above them on the shop.

And nobody knows when the special stops. It's "while stock lasts" promotion.

3G-HSPA is not available in Krugersdorp yet. According to one of the reps at the Keywest branch the tower has been erected but not functional yet. You are most probably getting the "test" signal. Other than that you will get nothing more than Edge.

Cell C Rep(s), please confirm when the service will be available in the Alberton, Castleview and Dinwiddie area?

If you have a 3G compatible hand set / 3G modem - what I would recommend for you is to buy a CELL C prepaid SIM CARD, rica it and load some airtime - If you are able to see 3G displaying then your area is capable of accessing 3G wooooosh network - like I did mentioned to another forum member on here he said his area wasn't covered but once he bought the prepaid sim(not the data package) and tested it with a CELL C compatible modem - he was set but struggled to get stock on prepaid.
