Sales upby19%, Costs down because of Indian manufacturing. Super job Dell.

Now how about reducing the cost of the Alienware units :) ??? Pretty please?
 
The call centre moved from Ireland to India but the Enterprise support remained.
The manufacturing\assembly plant moved from Ireland to Poland.
These both obviously contributed to the profit margins because of minimal wage.

Wonder why DELL went to Poland ????

No and Yes... but not in that order.

Someof the manufacturing was shifted to Poland but then there was a shakeup and they started mass producing more stock in China and India, even the enterprise stuff. Suppose thats also a minimum wage play but if you take into account the additional freight costs and time to ship. (Because all Asia stock goes to Europe before being redistributed) it makes life quite interesting.

Dell are doing something right or hiding something wrong lol :p
 
I have noticed many Dell toys (laptops and the like) have a longer warrant period - something like 3 years on laptops. It comes handy to consumers who are not asked to pay extra to receive warranties extending beyond the general norm of 1 year.
