The fastest, cheapest broadband now in Johannesburg and Pretoria

I love competition ... especially when it's coming from the so-called underdogs :D
 
Keep it up Cell C ... yr doing a great job of turning the SA mobile bandwidth scene on its head ;) Bottoms up?
 
Its simply awesome, no other word for it. I have used adsl, Mweb and Vodacom, nothing compares even remotely to the Cell C offering for quality and price.

What Cell C has managed to accomplish, and plans to accomplish by the end of 2011 is nothing short of remarkable.

How many times have we heard ministers, DG's, government gooks and toothless semi independent institutions go on about what they are 'planning to do' for the people when it comes to broadband, always to be shown up as nothing more than empty promises and hot air while they rake in the money from the public and exclude a vast majority out of what is an essential service in a modern economy.

Well, Cell C certainly is delivering, and by the truck load. No hot air here, just solid, tangible results.
I hope they meet all their objectives. By the looks of it they will surpass even their own goals.

Imagine that, 97% 'true' broadband coverage across our entire country at affordable rates, all done with the efforts of one company, previously classed as a non starter!
This company has already achieved the nigh impossible in a market that is so rigid it may as well be cast in concrete. Just look at the pricing of the other 2 operators and decide for yourself if that is, or ever was, competition, lol.
While the DoC and ICASA turned a blind eye. Useless gits.

Got my 5GB today.

Not only that. The consultant came to my place to do a coverage test. The overall customer service is excellent! VC can learn a thing or two about customer service from these guys. They (Cell C consultants) cannot even answer their phones while they're helping a customer.

So get this. I got the 5GB package today with 5GB to use till the end of the this month so my 12 months only start from next month. That means 5GB for this month is free!!!!! :eek:

Well assuming you want to use more than 5GB a month, Cell C doesn't even remotely resemble broadband at a decent price. You must only need 5-10GB to be happy with this, it would be useless for anyone else except as a mobile connection surely?

I think the title should really say "mobile broadband" seeing as it's priced ridiculously in terms of usage when compared to ADSL, so I don't see how it's always the cheapest.

* DSL 384 - R260 just for line rental, can you get 5GB and a modem for R40 - no.

That's impressive. Can't wait for them to get here - I pay R389/pm for 2.3GB from Vodacom at the moment :(.
 
Just such a pity the 1Gb top-up bundle is so ridiculously priced...

hmmm i got my speed stick yesterday from the cell c in centurion!! Very very good service. Got home straight away and what do you know everything works just fine!! My speeds are a bit slow though, nowhere near the 4-7mbps! I get 1.73mbps if im lucky. Gonna try again today and do a speed test. The signal strength is 69dbm. Anyone else have this problem in Centurion. Other than that i a, super happy with cell c and wish them all the best!!!!
 
Good on you cell C, but 5GB a month will not knock off ADSL for business. I chow 5 GB in 3 days and lot of people would chow it in half a day. Once mobile starts entry caps around 50GB you will start making headway against ADSL. Your speeds are awesome though, just 5GB is so 2009.

But those are launch special prices. Their normal prices listed in that article yesterday or so don't look interesting at all.
 
Can anyone explain to me where the R50/GB stat in the main article's picture comes from? I've looked all over CellC's website and cannot see one package where this is the case.
