Legitimately downloading (paying for it) series

Sorry if this has been asked a few times already.

Is there a way that you can actually legally download TV series from the local news servers,
or could you guys suggest sites where you can buy and download the TV series instead so that you may legally have a copy of it - pretty much like buying the DVD sets.
 
iTunes and Amazon come to mind, although I'm not sure of the DRM restrictions, if any.
 
I'm not too sure if I would go that route...I would pirate it and get the dvd/blueray set when it comes out

You're still paying for it - technically :p
 
There is NOTHING in South Africa that allows you to do this.

Your best bet is iTunes or Amazon - but you'll have to commit fraud to fake your details to fool them that you're living in the US. Either way, to get the series you'll be breaking the law - piracy or fraud. At least with fraud the people who made the show gets some money.
 
only fully legal way we have in good old RSA is DSTV on demand, other then that You can use amazon, itunes or even xbox live bit you will have to creat a us acount, but as above its fraud :( even though you paying for it
 
Eish this sux. I'm already downloading all the shows at my home, but we recently got a TV at the office and we try to keep everything legal there...

I'll ask my boss about the DSTV on demand, because we already have DSTV + Mweb uncapped at the office :D
 
Why do you need to download tv series at work? Sounds like a fun job! :D
 
Beyond contrary belief it is in fact legally safe to download for free the TV rip versions of TV series originally aired on a free-to-air network channel. This includes content from ABC, CBS, NBC, CW and FOX. Content originally aired on a pay channel such as HBO or AMC may not be ddownloaded. It is weirdly enough also legal to own any copyrighted content, including any TV series, MP3 or movie for the purpose of reviewing it, as long as you don't distribute the content.

Maybe so, but in SA it's legal to download for personal use, as long as it is not distributed. This includes uploading.
