Breaking News: New OS6 built for 9700 and 9300 leaked!

Hey guys. A new build of 6 for the 9700 as well as the 9300 has leaked. Head on over to crackberry.com for the details.

Here's the link to the 9700 post:

As always, please bear in mind that this is leaked build, and is not supported by your carriers. Install at your own risk! Have fun :-)

Perfect- will give this one a try... Old leak was too slow for me.

Thanks for the heads up. I had just loaded 344 onto my 9700 on Friday and on Saturday afternoon (yesterday) it landed up in the swimming pool :(
I'll get a new one this week and install 358 from scratch, before I restore any personal data.

Howz it running for you so far? Is there a change list by any chance?

Thanks for the update. Any feedback from you guys who have upgraded vs .344? I've been running the 344 build for a while and its working very nicely.

The install went flawlessly. Did take a fraction longer than normal but nothing major. First boot took as long as ever. Data was restored without any problems.

Phone running smoothly. OS feels a bit more responsive. Battery drain is less noticeable. Will keep an eye on the memory to check for leaks. The phone is running cooler as well (did any of you guys notice your phone running a bit hot with the first leak?). No noticeable change in signal or call quality, and no obvious feature changes.

Please post your findings and comments as well.

Thanks
Hugo

What do you guys suggest. I've just picked up my new 9700. It's still in the box. I'll tear it open when I get home. After booting it up should I register it on the network and setup my BIS (http://mobileemail.vodafonesa.co.za/ - do a change device function) before or after upgrading to 6.0?

Any body else have this red "No Entry" sign on the home screen directly under the clock, between the profile selection and search shortcuts? I can't find any reference to it in RIM's documentation - any idea what it means?

Gamer: don't upgrade ur OS yet. Set up your BIS email etc use for a week or 2 and make sure evrythings in good working order. If not take it back to the seller. If u happy that evrythings 100% then do the upgrade. Just my 2cents worth...

Thanks for the advice. On my way home I decided to be extra nice to my wife (she's always wanted a white BB 9700 - that happens to be what I bought today) and give her my new handset. I presented it to her when I got home. I'll take her older black 9700 (I needed to notify everyone of my new pin anyways, so all she needs to do is also let her contacts know her pin has changed) and will load OS6.0 onto it now. Busy doing a device switch for her 1st with the BB desktop software and then I'll get started getting my "new/old" phone setup.

I wouldn't hold my breath for an official release since vodacom is super retarded when it comes to BB firmware (in my opinion anyway).

Ok so I upgraded. Everything went smooth except at the end. After it said install complete I got the following error-Warnings were encounted during the install process: the following database(s) could not be fully restored to your device: "Options" 16 of 17 entries restored.

What the hell does that mean? So far eveything I tried is working fine though

Nothing to worry about I think. Its some misc setting that it had trouble restoring, possibly for a 3rd party app.

I last charged my phone yesterday morning and even with the normal amount of use during the day the battery is still at 70%. So this build does seem to have improved the battery life.

Let's hope so Hugo_ZA. I'm stil stuck with the memory leak though! Grrrr!

Hugo-ZA when I do a batt pull I get around 50MB free (which is about correct) Last night before going to sleep I had about 50MB, woke up this morning and had 30something, currently I have 14MB!!! I gotta do a batt pull daily since installing OS6 and its begining to irritate me. Oh, sometimes twice a day.

How do you have that much space? Howmany apps do u have?

App Storage: 68.5mb
Memory: 88.9mb

With the previous build I had to do a battery pull every day also, however since the new build I have not had to do any since the memory levels are adequate. I use my phone during the day for emails (around 200 a day), Calls (maybe 5 x 5min), facebook, BBM, and the occasional SMS.
