Axxess / IS Torrent Complaint

Hi Everyone,

I recently moved my uncapped ADSL from MWEB to Axxess and today received a complaint email from Axxess on behalf of Internet Solutions regarding torrent downloading and uploading with respect to Notice of Claimed Infringement.

Surely there are many Axxess customers that download torrents via P2P, so I was wondering if these complaints are a regular thing?

I was a customer with MWEB for quite a long time and never had such a complaint. The only reason I transferred was because of a poor service experience and Axxess offered a better price. Should I worry about this complaint or should I just move back to MWEB?
 
I already got six this month and that while using Peerblock ( updated to the newest lists ), makes me wonder how well it actually works? Gotten a total of 23 since signing up for my uncapped account.

Peerblock just gives a false sense of security. It blocks the known IP addresses of known media companies who may be monitoring torrents. But the media companies obviously know about the peerblock lists. Nothing prevents them from simply becoming part of the torrent swarm using a different IP address (that is not on the list) and thereby collecting all the IP addresses downloading that specific torrent.

However, I don't know if anyone in S Africa has actually been prosecuted after receiving such a notice. Don't forget to post here if they knock on your door. :)

So considering the above, you should do what ever Axxess says you should do (lie if you have to) in order to satisfy them you have taken corrective measures, if you have to do anything at all. Your corrective measures (which shouldn't be divulged to Axxess) should include trying to get an invite to a private tracker and installing peer block. Should you worry? Most definitely not, deny every step of the way and you'll be fine.
 
i've been on the Axxess lite 4mb uncapped and been averaging 9.5gb a day. Ive only received 1 of those mail. peer block seems to be doing the trick for me. i had some problems lately with being shaped down so bad in the day that i LITERALLY could not open a web page on a 4mb account but thats all cleared now. only to be greeted with a new problem this morning. Axxess is actually BLOCKING a site from me. i can get to it in a way that proves it so i am REALLY not happy. has this happened to any1 else here? being blocked of a torrent site? and not a porn filled one. a decent one.
 
I have been with openweb for a while now and have never received these. In my opinion, an isp that threatens it clients does not deserve to have clients.
 
i just got off the phone with axxess and feel like a tool. they said they are not blocking me. guy told me to ping and trace route the site i cant access. cant do either of that. yet i can still get to it through a proxy site.

how is it possible that i can not connect to a website at all unless i go to it through a proxy site?

and this is a site i go to multiple times daily!
