Instead of splashing a big "You're so out of luck!" message on my screen when my data bundle is used up, why don't you just take me to the vodacom website where I can log in, check my status and buy a new bundle? It should be quite easy for you to do that.

If you can do that I promise not to try and bust out of your website and go back to the internet before I've contributed to your senior management bonus scheme. ;)

That could work & won't be lots of data to allow you access to that screen to buy a top up/add on bundle

This has been proposed many times before including access to the banking sites so you can top-up.

Well I must say With the new Cell-C Dashbooard Software, you do not have the problem or fear that you will run out of your bundle. As you use the service, your balance is updated in real time. I have download a file, when finish, click on services, Balance Enquiry & Recharge, and my balance reflect the download. Why run the rick with vodacom that you have to wait for 3 hours to reflect your last usage????????

The new version 10 Dashboard of VMC also has that facility for Prepaid Subs, since it comes on the modem included in the Vodacom Internet Starter Pack (which is prepaid).

For contract subs? I thought the problem was Vodacom's contract billing system was always a few hours behind.

Then I guess it's time to bring it up again because it's gone ignored.

I recollect that some of the ADSL providers (Axxess?) allow you in to top up once you've gone over your allocation, so this isn't really new.

The problem with real-time usage monitoring is that, if you're using a router to share the bandwidth, it can blow out without you being aware that it starting to get close to depletion.

I remember this from some time last year. Someone suggested that internet banking be zero-rated and VodacomData response was that people will then use the network for "free" internet banking... Times are tough at Vodacom, you can't even get firmware updates fro free any more, and they consume a lot more data than internet banking!

Why not just move over to Cell C?

I would if I could get an answer from their "customer service" department regarding business account applications. And Tell Trevor looks like a waste of time too. They really have to improve in a number of ways to become a serious player - right now they're looking like a one-hit wonder.

  1. I only needed to phone them once, and the guy I spoke to was clueless. The promised call-back hasn't happened, 5 weeks later.
  2. Seriously - would you go and see a comedian or a doctor if you have an ulcer? Why contact Trevor unless you want to book a comedian?
  3. I love the hit on bundle prices!!!

Vodacom can't even fix it so you can download modem firmware for free like before so what are the chances of getting this done?

Never even tried to get that from Vodacom or Vodafone - I prefer to get firmware that's not "branded" direct from the vendor. My Huawei modem runs much better "clean" and Huawei's dashboard also works far better for me.

Now, if I could just de-brand my new E72 without the risk of "bricking" it...
