Motorola Flip and Motorola MB525 launched in SA

Motorola ugh!

Don't be so fast to say that. I also hated Moto, but bought the Milestone when it came out - they've changed their game with their new Android phones. The Milestone is brilliant... and these may not be so bad.

Glad I ordered the HTC Desire Z instead. This Flip thing is really not for me. Square phone, looks weird.

THe Milestone is brilliant, the lack of a Android upgrade just really suck...

Even Leaf seem to be upgrading phones faster than Motorola... nd the bootloader is locked - no mods possible...)

Samsung seem like they might be the best deal for a Android phone when it comes to support currently?

The Motorola Flip has been around for some time already. I thought it was a bit of a gimmick untill I played with it. It fits in th pocket nicely and the flip action is a bit addictive. If you don't like using the phone you can just sit there and flip it open and close and look cool.

For that i rather buy a ZIPPO :p

People, Motorola is quite alright these days in regards to their Android phones. Blame Google for licensing Android under the Apache license...

<rant> If you are in the US yes, if you are in ZA, expect upgrades to recent OS version AT LEAST 6 months late. And a locked bootloader, etc.

https://supportforums.motorola.com/community/manager/softwareupgrades have their upgrade schedule. Most US phones are upgraded and the suckers in other countries sit with ancient software versions.

Motorola often have great phones, their support for non-US users just completely suck</rant>

Samsung, HTC (even with Leaf) and LG seem to be a much better idea for Android phones. (And even if they don't release updates, you can still load a custom ROM, since they don' lock their bootloaders)

I'm loving my Milestone.

MoHag, which version are you on? I just upgraded mine to 2.1 this week.

2.1-update1, but the Droid have had 2.2 availabe forever and it is very similar hardware (UMTS/GSM radio vs. CDMA2000 is the main difference). (And it has a unlocked bootloader, etc.)

I'm running out of space on phone and don't see any apps I want to uninstall and you need FroYo to move them to SD card. Flash don't wor - FroYo needed. Phone slows down because of slow CPU - FroYo have significantly faster Java, etc...

Froyo is def. better than Eclair.

Apologies for the dead thread revival, but has anyone seen the MB525 (DEFY) for sale anywhere from the cellular service providers?
