Not spared? The man could not have been more correct. I fail to see how his spot-on assessment of Bush & the Iraq war is in any way likely to cause embarrassment.

Mandela, a frequent critic of US policy on Iraq, also said that countries were only challenging the mandate of the United Nations now because Secretary-General Kofi Annan is black.

"I have also said when the secretary-generals were white, we never had the question of any country ignoring the United Nations," he said.

"But now that we have got the black secretary-generals like Boutros Boutros Ghali and now Kofi Annan, certain countries that believe in white supremacy, are ignoring the United Nations," he said. "We have to combat that without reservation."

Not spared from the US side. That said, I personally have reason to not be a fan of Mandela; but then, I'm also not a fan of Mbeki nor Zuma, and it's by no means related to their skin colour so much as that these are the presidents I've grown up with and have had to suffer hollow promises from, almost on a first-hand basis.

In any event, the world's probably going to burn in a rain of nuclear fire sooner or later, so I personally couldn't be bothered with whether the wikileaks leaks cause friction or not. As it stands there's a measure of damage that censorship of information does for political ties; making things look fine on the surface angers people, and angry people will go to great lengths to get the truth revealed. When they are oppressed from doing so they will often find similarly affected individuals and form groups to have their voice be heard and their opinion counted, which is what causes revolutions, renegade movements and the like.
 
ahaha... the elder statesman. :D Mandela was just a lucky figurehead at that point in time... nothing more, nothing less. I'm glad for the unity that we experienced as a nation at the time, but I am under no illusions about the conduct of government officials or of political parties. Welcome to the real world.

There is really nothing amazing in this release... in fact it has turned out to be rather a damp fish.

And whether or not it is the USA's god-given right to keep tabs on all and sundry... they are still going to do it... and there's not a fart-in-the-wind you can do about it. :D
 
Mandela is correct, of course Bush won't listen to a black man in power. Look at South Africa. A country dominated by black people population wise but people had to wait until 1994 to have the very first black president. Something doesn't add up...

Racism and the thirst for power continues and it will lead us all into a 'holy' war, again. Mugabe is as crazy as any other president or politician we have in power now. Everyone is just running the world based on their opinion, not the publics.

Lol, oh well man, bring on the f'n war, maybe by the end of it if I am still alive, I will own some countries.

Mandela was in a position to cause havoc to the white man's world, we are indeed lucky to have had a president like him. If our first president were the likes of Chris Hani, Buthelezi or Malema, believe me we would have a different South Africa now. Just imagine spending 27 years in jail without being with your family, not seeing your daughters growing up and not seeing your grand kids, and not having the sexual comfort of a woman because your incarcerated by those who believe that your an inferior being. Mandela could have been harsh on whites and stripped them of everything that they attained because of Apartheid, but instead he lead the nation to a path of unity with programs such as TRC.

You are misreading us. Our issue is not with Mandela, but with the party he unfortunately represented. That's why we said he was a figurehead... but his desires were often reined in by his own party... whose intentions regarding South Africa have in recent years become a lot more clear.
