With all the controversy surrounding Fifa match officials being bribed, this should be interesting to see how it goes.

I personally do not see England winning the Bid, nor do i want them to win.

I am routing for Belgium and Netherlands ( 2018) and Australia (2022)

Do you guys know if SS are broadcasting the bids?

hence why S.A got the WC.

Russia will win /me thinks. FIFA and the Kremlin mafia think along the same lines......

we got it because off Mandela :)

Russia would be great hosts!

would love to go for it they got it

The pitch for the 2007/2008 Champions League final in Moscow was horrible. Hopefully they can sort it out before they are evaluated.

Were we not corrupt enough in '06? Seeing as everyone pays (looks like England are the only ones who don't), it means the Germans were more corrupt.

These FIFA old farts have zero reason to vote for any one country, they're only looking out for #1. And if the WC is being held in Europe all the better cause FIFA should profit regardless, so they take the bribes & it's 'may the guy who pays the most members win'!

Belgium and Netherlands is a huge outsider. For 2018 Russia is the favourite, but I can see England winning it. First WC back in Europe since 2006, SA did OK, Brazil looks to be in trouble, FIFA will want to cash in. Spain and Portugal was hurt by the vote trading news, plus FIFA doesn't like co hosting, this bid could have been just Spain, it's not a 50-50 split like Korea and Japan was.

For 2022, I think that Aus will get it. The USA will bring in more money, but they hosted in 1994, and they didn't give goverment guarantees. If however, 2018 goes to Rusia, I can see the USA winning, to cash in, unless something very strange happens. A Russia WC follwed by Aus would mean 4 WCs in a row not in the cash cow countries. Korea and Japan hosted in only 2002, so I'd say they are out. Qatar tried hard, but the country is too small, and it's too hot in June and July.

Panorama 'ended England hopes'

England's bid for the 2018 World Cup is effectively over after BBC programme Panorama attacked FIFA vice-president Issa Hayatou, insiders have told ESPNsoccernet.

The International Olympic Committee (IOC) has announced it will investigate allegations against Hayatou in what appears certain to cause further problems for the English bid.

Panorama alleged Hayatou and two other FIFA officials voting on World Cup bids took bribes in the 1990s.

The IOC said in a statement: "The IOC has taken note of the allegations made by BBC Panorama and will ask the programme makers to pass on any evidence they may have to the appropriate authorities. The IOC has a zero tolerance against corruption and will refer the matter to the IOC ethics commission."

As a result, England's precarious bid can no longer rely on the vote from the Cameroon FIFA executive member.

An insider told ESPNsoccernet: "The FA were relying on three votes, Cameroon, Ivory Coast, and of course we can be assured of Geoff Thompson voting for us, but there is not a chance that Hayatou will be voting for England now, and who can blame him?

"England's chances of landing the World Cup are effectively over as result of this Panorama programme.

"They excused themselves for screening this programme just three days before the vote that they would uncover corruption in FIFA, and all they highlighted was age old issues that we all knew about. If you're asking if Panorama has scuppered England's chances then the answer is yes, it has."

FIFA issued a statement, saying the allegations referred to events that had taken place before the year 2000 and had already been investigated by the Swiss authorities.

It read: "The matters concerning the case 'ISL/ISMM' which are referred to date back many years ago and were investigated by the relevant authorities in Switzerland. No FIFA officials were accused of any criminal offence in these proceedings. The investigation and the case are definitely closed."
