How exactly are these 'drivers' for the new speed sticks?

The downloads listed here:
http://www.cellc.co.za/internet/drivers

Specifically:
Cell C Speed Stick drivers - Windows
Windows XP Driver (308KB) - for use with Windows XP Service Pack 3 or higher

I want to know how exactly Cell C calls these files 'drivers' ? The zip file contains an autorun application which only runs after you have installed the modem already, ie: used the default drivers that are supplied on the speed stick itself.

They told me getting the updated 'drivers' could resolve my issue, but these don't even seem to be drivers.

So basically I'm stuck with a speed stick that downloads/uploads at a cumulative speed of under 1kb/s, never going over that speed.

Things that have not helped resolve the issue despite my speed stick working at the Cell C store:
1) Trying these updated 'drivers'
2) Reformatting my PC to test on both W7 64-bit and Win XP 32-bit SP3
3) Trying to connect via Bell's mobile connect application instead of the Cell C one
4) Using manual search and selecting Cell C 3g from within the Cell C app
5) Trying any and all hotfixes listed in help threads on this forum
6) Trying with/without a USB extension and in all available USB ports

Totally stumped, well played Cell C :/

Hi Scoperzor

PM us on [email protected] and we will get our Tech Heads to contact you and try and resolve this issue.

Regards
Cell C

I already did that last night, haven't had a response yet. I was also told on Thursday last week that someone would contact me to come out and look at my problem, but I haven't had any contact regarding that either.

lol! - I can't get it to work on my pc either..

Not to fond of CellC's application. Doesn't even support my K3565 modem.

I'm using that MDMA atm and it's working pretty good. If I want to check the balance I just type in *101#

I just tried my modem on my friend's PC who lives 2km down the road from me. Plugged in -> instant success -> low pings + 8mb download speeds ........ mehhhh

Have you tried using it through a router connected to the pc?
I have a similar issue on desktop Win7 64 machine, fine on my Vista laptop though. Using a router on the desktop solved my connection / installation probs.

I left it there, less heartache than trying to figure out where the real issue lay.
