Possibility of having a Telkom Rep.

Having a Representative on a forum is always a positive thing :) [ as can be seen by having a MTN, Vodacom, Axxess, Imaginet, WA and SAOL representative]. However I'd think what sort of makes Telscum scared [if they've ever thought of this possibility :rolleyes:] of having a rep. is being flamed on every reply they make.

I certainly think this should be discussed when RPM meets the new CEO of Telkom and if it happens, there should be certain "guidelines" set by the mods with regards to "flaming" the rep. at every oppotunity.

It's going to have to be a fulltime job, every time there's a network problem people will be charging @ him / her.

I suggest increasing the PM box size (50) for that person should it ever happen, they gonna be very very busy ;)

telkom will prolly say myadsl should pay for a rep on the forum and he will only be allowed to anwser a set amount of questions per day :P
 
I do not see the value in a Telkom rep, as a company Telkom have repeatedly demonstrated they have no respect nor any desire to deal with their customers in a honest or open manner. They would be foolish at this stage to try engage a well informed and disgruntled public as it seems the more information the public uncovers, the more outrage follows. The less people know the better it is for them.

Perhaps one day, in a post SNO environment, when Telkom of bordering on liquidation we might see a dramatic change of heart.
 
It would be great day when telkom borders on liquidation but i doubt that will ever happen with the sno ceo and telkom ceo being good friends

Just an idea but referring to them as Telscum probably isnt the best way to convince them to start a dialogue ;)
 
Rather than a Telkom Rep, an ICASA rep would be a win win situation.
The members will do most of the digging for ICASA and the rep can give us progress reports.
 
A Telkom rep would simply say "No Coment"
An Icasa rep would tell us that the answer is unenforcable or out of their juristriction
 
The "Telscum" rep would no doubt tell you that you are abusing your adsl by making use of the unlimited local download of your 3GB account.

The "Telscum" rep would no doubt explain that it is very expensive to pay R11 million to the ceo for his brilliant management of a monopoly company providing an essential country resource.

No, a rep would be useless. First "Telscum" would have to understand social responsibility of managing an essential service. Then a SNO, TNO and a FNO need no be licensed. Then "Telscum" needs to be nationalised if they are still the monopoly provider of CAT3 and last mile.
 
Theoretically every service provider should participate in these forums. Openly and honestly, as most of the VAR ISPs do, I commend them. ICASA should also definitely be watching this site.
