So I've got ADSL at home, and thus have no need for CellC's very cool new 24 month data special.

However, I'm going away this month, so I thought, let's get a CellC SIM card, and buy a 1Gig data bundle and use that.
One would think this would be fairly easy.
Not so.

I went to the CellC store at Cavendish and was told that they would be unable to sell me a data bundle since they are, and I quote: "out of stock of the virtual bundles".
Now, I may be missing something big here, but how can you be out of stock of something "virtual"?

I now have to wait for them to be "in stock" or - and this is more likely - go somewhere else.

Could someone from CellC clarify what the store means by this as I am thoroughly confused...

I PM-ed CellC with the same message as above, but unfortunately s/he completely misunderstood my problem and proceeded to tell me that there are plenty of speed sticks at the Cavendish store.

What I want is not a speed stick, but a simple prepaid sim card and a 1gig data bundle.
Apparently I can't get that since they are out of stock of data bundles.

I still don't understand how you can be out of stock of a virtual item...

Just buy a prepaid sim card. Recharge with R250 airtime and convert that airtime to the 1.2GB data bundle. This can be done by dialing *101*4*250# . (For other bundles: *101*4*price of data bundle#)

Why they don't explain this anywhere on their site (or at least not anywhere I could see it) is beyond me!
