PC Gamer reviews Quake 4........ 70%

PC Gamer has given a fairly low score of 70% to Raven's Quake 4. Here are the high/low points:

Highs - Loads of action; gruesome visuals; Q3DM17 with Doom 3 graphics

Lows - Uninspired gameplay; [edited for spoilers] plot twist goes nowhere; no multiplayer bots.

Bottom line - This old-school shooter suffers from a lack of 21st-century game design.

Must've not been reviewed by the same guy who worked on the DOOM 3 review. I especially love the "Bottom Line" bit. On the other end of the scale though GameInformer gave it an 8.75 out of 10, have to wait for a few more reviews. NAG is so flippen erratic with their reviews I would not trust their view point either.
 
what i said... single player will suck.... place your bets on the multiplayer component... bots will be available later on with a patch for sure as with most shooters...

Hopefully the gameplay is as fun as Quake 3 was when it came out.. *holds thumbs*

Not cr@p just slower than Nvidia. Like Nvidia still runs HL2 great, just not as fast as ATI.
 
i'll be honest, the 'story' doesn't really appeal, from what I've seen of it I'd agree with the reviewer. I felt the same way about Doom 3. Too much time spent of the engine and not enough on the story.

id is a tech company, not content, their focus will be on resellign the engine rather than raw Q4 sales.

Ravensoft introduced the story, and trust me Ravensoft have made great storylines for "hopeless" first person shooters.

Neways, I wouldnt go with this guys attitude, in fact I dont think reviewers ever get something spot on, they are all just human and bias as hell.. "Its not my kind of game, lets give it a ****ty score"
 
hehehe... but i wont go as useless... i'll use my BF2 nick instead... but just in case i AM useless then who knows... :P

don't know much about Q4... hope is better then what is said but i must say when i compare HL2 to doom 3 i can only say people have a lot to learn from Valve... although Steam was a huge low point for many...
 
mmmm... is it just me or perhaps i DIDNT notice anything new in HL2 that other FPS games didnt alreay have? I do enjoy CS:S and DoD:S but not HL2....
