2011 Medical Aid / Hospital Plan % increases.

Although I've already committed to starting the year off with my current M/Aid Scheme - Cape Medical Plan - I'm interested in finding out if your % increases are less than or greater than mine.

I'm on a Hospital Plan only, and my increase works out at 7,29% from 2010 to 2011, which I'd regard as being reasonable.

So, if you're interested in contributing, pls. simply list the Co. you're with, the type of plan, and % your's is to increase by.

Even if you're paying far more than I am per month, which in many instances will be highly likely, I'm still interested in this feedback (as other's might be).
It'll give us an indication on which Co's are reasonable & which might be taking advantage, probably with subtle clues on where to 'shop-around'.
 
Discovery/momentum...think its the saver plus or something similar.

Momentum hospital plan only - 10.7% ... damn ridiculous if you ask me ... and on top of this ... they reduce benefits in some areas
 
Medical aids are almost the biggest scams going around. We all need it,just in case....

The young will always subsidise the old, the healthy folk subsidising the sick.

Have a medical aid and yet still have to fork out extra cash for specialist treatments.... WTF ????

Tell them you want to use vitamins and supplements to be healthier...neah...they won't pay for it... Rather would want you lying in a hospital bed

But they have millions in reserves ,buying golf estates and having a blast at the expense of its members.

Im with Bonitas +10% increase and i still am getting ripped off every year.

Does anybody even know why medical aids even take members funds and use it to sponsor sporting events, soccer teams...etc.

Should'nt those millions be passed down to the members to ensure lower contibutions ?

SinghDude, don't be so upset - reason we're being ripped off, is that there are seemingly only 6 of us on some sort of medical aid in the whole of SA. :erm:
 
Discovery - about 10%. Still, had a look at some other popular options, and Discovery ain't that bad...

It's a lot of money to just give away, but it helps when you need it. Believe me, I know how it feels when you have to apply for a loan because you can't afford the emergency op you just had coz you didn't belong to any medical scheme.

Severe abdominal pain > hospital > 24hrs later > R25000.00 debt. And I never claimed it from SARS.

As the saying goes, rather have and not need it...
 
I'm on Discovery but still waiting for 2011's increase yet :(
