Hi, all.

I was contemplating buying Starcraft II after spending the weekend playing Starcraft 1 and thinking I'd like to get back into serious RTS'ing.

... but, playing RTS' online in South Africa has always sucked because of lag since there are never any S.A. servers. What is the Starcraft II experience like as far as lag is concerned? Is it "Playable - just" or "Playable like you'd actually want to"?

What about when Battlenet matches you with international players?

I have a 4 mbps ADSL line using Afrihost bandwidth which is I.S. and shaped. I'm in Plumstead but not sure which exchange I go through.

Also, is there a LAN option? I seem to remember hearing that there was no LAN option in this game but that was before the actual release.

The forums are really, really quite about SC II - worrying on its own for such a big release - so I can't seem to find much information. Thanks for any answers.

I play online most nights and no issues 10 mb line and of mate has a 512 no issues.

Be it vs each other or in the league :-)

Telkom Internet/SAIX-based accounts are decent.

Seacom-based accounts have a little lag sometimes.

No need to by unshaped for decent games.

384 lags a bit when you're in in a party and chatting while 4v4ing.

it seems most people are fine for SC2 but for me personally on my 384k unshaped (cybersmart, so seacom i think?) i get 0.45 seconds lag, which is noticeable and impacts micro management a bit but you can still play and still have fun and still win :D

Yeah, i play on Iburst, do have lag, but I only play custom maps and it doesn't really matter on those maps. :)

Plays fine, and most of the times you will be matched up against international players. The lag isn't really noticeable. 4mb Telkom Do Broadband.

we have one of the 4 of us playing on 3G and we have no issues still so 512k line is a good start imo

playing with mweb 4meg and almost no lag,SC2 is a bit hard to get into, give me a shout if you need help or practice.

Ive got a 384k line with webafrica and its really payable, doesnt lag
