Easy to use software for converting Vinyl Albums to mp3 and CD

Hi there
My old man has decided that his holiday project will be to convert his old vinyl albums to cd....
I have set up his amp and turntable to output to the line in on his laptop.
Now i just need recommendations on software to use, most important thing is it must be easy to use as most of you will probably know that many members of the older generations aren't that computer savvy.
So if anyone can recomment software (free or paid) that he will be able to use easily let me know.

yeah will probably teach him to convert to lossless like *.wav to write to cd and then to mp3 for archiving purposes, and also incase he catches up with mp3 technology in his car etc, sometime in the future....
big thing is just that I will need to make it as easy to use as possible as otherwise I will have to be on hand semi-permanently to help....
 
Yup, FLAC is what I use but there are a few others around. If the aim is burning it to CD then WAV is fine, the advantage of FLAC is that it compresses the file size but doesn't lose quality

Will give a couple of the aps a try and see which works best for us
 
Hi guys ran into another problem....
The laptop we are losing does not have line in, only mic in. Of course mic in is only mono with no stereo input.....
So i am looking for an USB sound card that has line in, does anyone know if such a thing even exists and where one could be able to find one?
