Duncan McLeod, one of South Africa’s leading IT journalists and the technology editor at Financial Mail, launched his own blog last week.
Duncan has won various journalism awards over the years, including the 2006 MyADSL-DataPro People’s Choice Journalist of the Year Award and the Telkom ICT Journalist of the Year award.
Somebody that wins awards from both Telkom and MyADSL is certainly worth listening to
The new technology blog was conceived by McLeod, and it is “endorsed by BDFM, the company that publishes the Financial Mail, and is an experiment in marrying traditional and online media.”
Only writing for a weekly publication can be limiting, especially when it comes to breaking news, and Duncan must run into a lot of information that is either not suitable for the weekly magazine or not of much value unless it is broken immediately.
This new platform will give Duncan much more freedom and I for one am excited to see what he has to say when he is not under editorial pressure!
