Way way back in the mid 1990s I was privileged to be part of a team that started a radio station. We had lots of money to spend and lots of toys we needed to buy. Being technologically addicted I loved the purchasing power and was enthralled by all the latest and greatest computers we were able to get our hands on. The biggest attention grabbers were our three – yes three! – 9 Gig hard drives. Back in the day when floppy disks were still in use, our three shoebox sized 9 Gig drives were a serious attempt at redundancy…one drive for ALL the music we could get our hands, another for the highly unlikely chance that anything goes wrong with our master drive and then another massive 9 Gigs to make sure we never ever ever run out of hard drive space!
LOL.
Although our hard drives were as big as a shoebox, many were amazed that they were as small as a shoebox. Sounds strange, but when you see how things had been less than ten years before, you will also agree that to get down to a 9 Gig shoebox was indeed a massive step forward.

I wonder how long it will take before we laugh at how big a 100 Terrabyte drive was way back when!
