Reports have emerged that the Japanese government is investigating a possible battery defect in the iPod Nano which causes the music player to overheat.
According to the AP the Minister of Economy, Tade and Industry has contacted Apple and it is suspected that the problem lies with the lithium-ion battery.
There were two reports which recorded that the Nanos overheat to such an extent that nearby paper was scorched.
According to the BBC, this is not the first time that the Japanese government has stepped in to investigate problems with the iPod Nano. In March this year there were reports that overheated Nanos had shooting sparks flying from them.
