Hey
Well, just want to find out if it's just me, since the internet is really really really really slow today, I'm having trouble downloading a 2 mb file from an international site, thought it might be the site, but everything is slow int and even local!
I mean myadsl timed out 3 times before I could get on to post, hell it even timed out when I clicked the post new button. And using iconnect c#, I got more red lines than yellow :/

Anyway anyone lese having trouble ?

P.S: Also I cant ping 196.30.192.182 ... what the hell :/

I had problems earlier, tower went down a while too, (Wonderboom). Seems to be alright now though.

Red lines.....does'nt that mean u have a weak signal. Try building your own parabolic reflector takes only a few mins and should boost your signal alot.
http://www.freeantennas.com/prod01.htm
Antenna should be 120mm x 240mm and use tin foil. you can find some examples on the site.

Your line speed is approximately 64.8 Kbps or 7.9 kBytes/sec (I'm throttled of course)
I can't ping that ip either, everything else seems fine this side.

Sorry to get off the topic here a bit, but I connect at 10MBS, is this good or not and if not how can I make it *feel* better?:D

I don't know if your being serious or just having a laugh. :D

It's 10mbps cause your connecting over lan, and the UTD makes a 10mbps connection with your pc. although the UTD only makes a 1mbps connection with the tower.

Here's helpdesks number TwinDucT
0118774704 (don't use the 0861 number...it's expensive)

you can make it feel better by connecting through ethernet, then you get 100MBS! WOW! seriously look at potecs post

you aleady connect with ethernet if it says it connects at 10mbps, the only difference is your network card is slower so it only says 10mbps not 100mbps, you could also get 1gbps ethernet if you really wanted to.

Although if you wanted to get a dfferent network card just to see "you're connected at 100mbps" then you are wasting your money

hmmm
11/10/05 Network outage 11/10/05 Johannesburg, Pretoria, Durban subscribers CRITICAL RESOLVED
Details Network access server experienced a failure, causing a network outage lasting 3 minutes, at approx. 10:20am.
could this be your problem?

I built the antenna POtenc suggested. Put it on and only got -2db increase to the tower (Olivedale+Braynston). Did some speed tests (Telkom + Internetfrog) and the max I got was 28KB/s.... slower that ISDN.
Then I tried to download the BF2 patch - 175mb. Getright estimated 2:30 hours to comp.
Iburst was slow last night. Really upset.

Now I need an external antenna... anyone want to sell one?
Or does anyone know if the antennas from GRES are still available?
