In what seems to be a major move away from status quo, Coldplay has decided not only to release their latest album online, but they have decided to make it available absolutely free.
While most record companies have frowned on music piracy and the likes of Apple’s iTunes have tried everything in their power to enforce Digital Rights Management, there is something to be said about the selling power of ‘free’ music. It seems that Coldplay have decided to jump in the deep end – albeit with water-wings on….the free album is a live recording, not a brand new studio project.
However, Coldplay fans have been ecstsatic at the release with social networks buzzing with the news. The link to download the album can be found at www.coldplay.com of course, with the note to say that downloadees need to be patient as the demand is rather high making the download of the 54Mb file rather slow.
