And to clarify, I think that both sick and insane were used here in a positive light :)

aaahhhh....ok
Theres lot of uses for it in the process industry where huge HMI displays is needed to monitor plants processes, or security cameras for that matter, I for one will buy one for fun when it, if it, becomes avalable.
Can make money of the concept!

3 years? definately. 2 years? most likely.
1 year? debateable.
it might be able to run the newer games, but most likely not full spec.
with the 7800 series out there will be a lot of reason for developers to push their games harder than before. if you think about it, the new games that run on the unreal3 engine are really gonna tax our current systems. multi threaded engine with unbelievable graphic capabilities...
check out screen shots of "Gears of War" for the xbox 360. you wont believe it. it CANT look that good.

Why people drive BMW's and change the mags for that or mod their PC's or whatever....Human nature...to be better than the neighbour..Then there is those that want true performance whether they use it or not.
The 7800 have more punch, is relatively cheaper, and use much less power I heard. ??

that just looks like a waste of money, especially since you have to match the gpu's
