Rampant global Avast! piracy spreads to Vatican City

Pirates: They're everywhere. Seriously though, pirating anti-virus from a warez site just seems beyond stupid to me. If you get malware from doing that, you deserve it :P
 
So who was the guy culprit at the Arizona firm?
 
The funny thing is... most of those pirates probably never even used the advanced features and would have been just as happy with the free version. Anyway, kudos to Avast for the way they have handled this!... and for providing a free version in the first place that is a nice piece of software (even though I don't personally prefer it).
 
LOL pirating Avast!... of all the AVs they could have... Avast!.....
 
what's the point of telling them to buy pro or go free??? Those very same people will just hop onto another cracked antivirus! Just goes to show, if Avast can track how many copies are running illegally and where, makes you wonder how much Microsoft and every other company knows about who's doing what with their respective software!... I still think MS and many other companies deliberately leaves backdoors to crack their software - its good advertising regardless how pirated it is!
 
They are looking at it all wrong, that is a quarter million who may in future purchase the product. A quarter mil who may post good things about the product and give you good advertising.
 
What avast should do is to issue updated signatures targeted only at the pirated versions - which will nuke the windows installation on which it is running. :whistle:

Like a retribution Virus.
This would mean that the anti-virus software's out there will have to add Avast as a virus, including Avast itself. :D
 
like it or not, piracy is a form of advertising!, its the fastest way to make software popular!
