Sony announced that it would be recalling around 440,00 Viao laptops.
There are 19 Sony Viao models in the TZ series which have been found to have faulty wiring which could cause overheating.
According to the BBC the Viao’s concerned were manufactured between May 2007 and July 2008 and it appears to involve wires being placed in the incorrect position near the hinge.
The Associated Press reported that Sony has received 209 reports of overheating worldwide, including seven incidents where people received minor burns.
