So the final results for the console wars of 2008 in the USA have been released and there seems to have been a tremendous victory for Nintendo with their Wii and DS doing well, especially the DS selling like hotcakes.
Looking at the stats and the reporting on it I would say that quite a number of reporters are missing the point, especially when they start comparing machines like the Xbox 360 and the PS3 with the Wii. In my humble opinion this cannot be done! The DS cannot be compared to any of the consoles for obvious reasons but comparing and still having an argument about the Wii versus the 360 and the PS3 is just insane in my view.
The Wii is a family or team based entertainment hub that cannot compete in power or specification to either the 360 or PS3. Rather compare it to the PS2 if you like, but the insanity has to end. There are only two contenders in the super or power console range and they are the 360 and PS3. The rest are too feeble.
Make no mistake I loved the Wii while I had it to test, but my 360 is like a cage fighter compared to the Wii who would be a very small and sexy female gym instructor. There is no comparison! That doesn’t mean they cannot sit nicely next to each other on a television cabinet.
The same goes for the PS3 who I would tag as the drag queen body builder. It is tough (even tougher than the 360), could be rough but just doesn’t look right in a cage fight.
In any event, go look at the figures here.
