Vodacom money making SCAM? [roaming sms charges]

I activated international roaming about two weeks ago and i landed in the US about 20 hours ago. I am now getting loads of "resent" sms's from people in the SA. Some come though every 3 minutes some every hour. They all sent the SMS once and the time stamp confirms it - I bet they are billing me for each :(

Whats up Vodacom?? I'm on T-mobile here in Orem Utah.

You dont pay for incoming SMS when you are roaming
 
At least you GET your sms! I couldn't receive any sms (also T-mobile) about a month ago when I was in Atlanta and L.A. I called the helpdesk in SA and they didn't know why

Do you need a different message centre number while roaming in the USA?

I didn't enter a message center number - it just worked.

Nice to know I don't pay for incoming sms's. Who covers the international cost of the sms then?
 
sender pays international sms rates. i think its around R1.50, not sure of the exact price
 
Dont worry - you wont get charged for incoming smses - I never did. Try changing roaming partners for a while - that should clear up the repeats.
 
I just roamed in Turkey and UAE, you pay for all calls going out and recived.

SMS to SA cost me R1.05, recieving is free, the sender pays local rates and not international (would be a bit unfair if they docked R1.60 off your account and you didn't know the oke was overseas)
 
What sucks in the states is that you get charged for sending and receiving sms' - at least on T-Mobile you do. Not sure about the others.

lol do you really think they care about being fair? look up the international sms rates for your network provider, it's alot more than sending a normal sms
 
Hi Guys international rates now become a lot lower on Vodacom as long as your on a preferred network overseas e.g.. Vodafone T-mobile ATT international rate are anything between R1.74 but may be different based on the preferred network as for being charged for receiving sms's as far as I know you are charged but check with your local phone guru....
 
Vodacom has still not bothered to fix the problem. It's now getting ****ing silly.

Its not just Vodacom - the way I see it is that the sms isnt being reported as having been delivered. Switching networks has always worked for me - even if you switch back to the preferred network after a while.
 
I checked my statement and they billed me for all the duplicate sms's. they suck.

They are now going to cost me even more time (money) and frustration when I try and sort it out when I get back - they suck.

I bought myself a sim card here and don't now have the option of roaming - cause they suck.

Remeber Vodacom doesn't charge you the foreign network does - its like a credit card - your bank only processes the transactions they recieve.
