WiMAX has been touted as the solution to Africa’s woes and then in the same breath detrators have expressed disappointment at the performance of the technology, but what is its true growth potential?
New research by Juniper Research reveals that if devices are available and networks are built in a timely fashion the number of last mile WiMAX subscribers should reach 47 million within 5 years.
Forecasts predict that WiMAX 802.16e will begin to take off in 2009 to 2011 and the figures estimated are 47 million by 2013.
