Apple said that the iPhone’s warranty does not cover the ‘irreparable damage’ occurring from installing unlocking software to use the phone on networks other than AT&T’s Cingular.
Apple warned that irreparable damage is caused by unlocking software available on the net.
“Apple has discovered that many of the unauthorized iPhone unlocking programs available on the Internet cause irreparable damage to the iPhone’s software, which will likely result in the modified iPhone becoming permanently inoperable when a future Apple-supplied iPhone software update is installed.”
The company said that it strongly discourages users from using unlocking programs which according to Apple violates the iPhone software license agreement which in turn will void their warranties.
