iBuest Connection with Vista and Ubuntu.

My iBurst panel says I'm getting coverage of around 5% to 20% (obviously not good) and I can't seem to pick up a signal.

I have been given a username ([email protected]) and a password (username1) for connection, but there doesn't seem to be any way of entering the information.

Whatever the reason, I cannot connect.

I cannot connect on my Ubuntu 10.10 Maverick system either, despite using Network Manager to enter the username and password under the 'DSL' Tab.

Using pppoeconf finds the following 3 interfaces

eth0
vboxnet0
wlan0

but gives the following error:

Presumably this is because coverage is so poor?

Didn't you check coverage before you got it? you might have to get an external aerial.

You have to get the usb drivers and compile them. There are a few threads here with links to the drivers and guides for installing the drivers.

What kind of modem do you have? One with just USB or one with both network point and USB?

That error normally corresponds to no one answering on the other side so could be no signal in your area but the modem should give indication as well. Normally red or yellow lights rather than greeen or blue show no or very slow signal.

I am also in no coverage area but on my window sill I get coverage so try to place as close to window as possible.

Where does the Vista portion of your title come into play?

Even there, under Vista and with apparently the correct drivers installed, there is no connection.

I'm at a bit of a loss: Where do the username and password get input?

There is a link in the OP to a photo of my modem.

My computer dual-boots and I can boot up with Vista.

Although, under Vista all the drivers appear to be correctly installed, there is no option to input the username and password I have been given.

As I say, just down the hill I can get 100% signal.

Go into you network center and create a new connection. When giving options select "cable or dsl connection that requires user name and password" and you'll be able to put your username and password in and your new connection will be made.(in windows vista ofc.)

Ok then Mental Tree was correct about getting usb drivers which I think there is a thread about here as pppoe won't work.
