Hi all

ok, so heres my problem: I used to have 4mbps with telkom a while back but switched to Mweb 512kbps uncapped, but I wanted to save money by doing the all inclusive package, so I asked telkom to activate a 512kbps line for me a month after I cancelled my internet with telkom. I then migrated my line to Mweb and everything is sorted.

The thing is, 512kbps is way too slow, cant host games etc. So I wanted to upgrade my line to 4mbs, but Mweb couldn't, they could only upgrade the package to 4mbps not the line (which is kind of pointless).

Can anyone tell me why? Is it because Mweb doesnt have control over a 4mbps line, only a 512kbps line?

Thanx

That is odd dude, they have control over the line. It should be as simple as requesting it from telkom.

Seems odd they won't upgrade you to 4 meg. Perhaps your exchange does not support 4 meg? Why then would they want to upgrade your package?

Weird. Phone them again and get a proper reason. Sounds like BS to me. You might have had someone on the line that just came back from a Christmas Do. Post your results here so we can spread the word. Hope it's not an ID10T error.

Exchange will definitely support 4m meg BUT there may be no ports available!!!

as I said before, I had 4mbps with telkom. So whats changed? Is Mweb somehow limited to give me 512kbps?
Should I give telkom a call and ask about the line?

Either there's no space avail to give you a 4meg line again or telkom is still long in the tooth over the whole peering story...

You are confusing me.

Did you move your line to mweb from telkom which was a 4 meg line and now it is only a 512 line because the package you are on is 512?

Is the line still with telkom? Who is invoicing you for the line?

I had a 4mbps line with telkom, then disconnected from telkom altogether, then heard about Mweb's all-inclusive story.
So I wanted to try out their 512kbps service, but was told in order to get the all-inclusive package I had to migrate the line over to Mweb first, so I phoned telkom to activate a 512kbps line for me, then migrated it over to Mweb, so Mweb invoices me for line+service.

Yea so it should be as simple as mweb phoning telkom i think anyways.

Let us know what the outcome is, sounds a bit odd.

for me it's reasons like this why i always maintain it is better to keep the line with telkom no matter your ISP.
