Vodacom Internet Starter Pack promotion ending shortly?

If anyone is interested in getting one of those Vodacom Internet Starter Packs for a family member or someone else with very basic online requirements, (R399 for the dongle and 12 x 100 MB), I've just been told by my local Vodashop that the offer ends on January 7.

Recent newspaper ads now state that Cell C's rival internet promotion (R1499 for a dongle and 12 x 2GB, or R2999 with 12 x 5GB) runs until the end of January 'while stocks last'.
 
Vodacom, Mimosa Mall Bloemfontein, say they are out of stock, supplier does not have chips to make more, so will only have stock in the new year ... , Freaking wonderful, and that includes the excuse ... , wonderful place the New South Africa ... , NOT

PS: in other words, they have run out of repackaged 2006 over stocks, and have yet to repackage the 2007 over stocks ... ( typical South African Problem ) hence forth we f**k forth ...

PPS: Am I being a little cynical ...

PPPS: BAD FORM; they even told me I would not have better luck at MTN or CNA ... etc. and well CELL-C I'd rather give a pass if I can ...

That 100mb deal is actually pretty shocking, how long will that last a week a few days? Then your out of bundle at R2 a mb, so it's def going to end up costing more. How can you get by on 100mb for a whole month, maybe if your 80 and use the internet once a week?

Cell C are def not perfect but it's a real deal, it's a real shame the promo will end soon. 2gig should be more that enough for average people and at a good price too. So it's actually like R150 rand a month for 2gig but only till Jan.

Well ... yes - but for someone like my retired Mom who still uses dialup (yes you can stop laughing now) and only wants email and she's not interested in anything else at all - all she does is press send/receive in outlook express and gets and sends emails, then this is a decent enough deal. So there is a place for it but not for everyone.
 
Latest status: out of stock in several Jhb Vodashops and no new stock on order. They suggest trying Incredible -- who did indeed have plenty of stock in e.g. Rosebank.

Must keep them in mind Monday (trust they will be open then) when I go looking for a Cellular Data Modem ... , when Telkom decide to "disrupt" service for 2 days again, I wanna have the choice of going cellular, and not 8ta either ... , otherwise, a Cell-C WOOOOSH Speedstick is on the cards, as local Vodashop's don't have stock either ...
