Hey guys

We have a semi bricked Galaxy S anybody in the durban area that can give us a hand with the jig to short pin 4 & 5?

Thx in advance.

bump, ok its a brick currently anyone with experience in the dbn area, will be greatly appreciated!!!!

Post it in the official galaxy thread in the android section (if you haven't already, I'm too lazy to check). Completely bricked as in no download mode? Tried everything? Used a hair dryer on it for 5 minutes?

first things first. Lets not jump the gun.

1) how did you brick the phone? Flashing i would guess?

2) what exactly happens when you power up?

3) what have you tried?

Okay 1st I rooted it, that went smooth. Then used rom manager to load up the alternate boot rom. Started loading a froyo rom and it came up with an error relating to a file in the zip. Now all I get is the galaxy S logo and it stays there. Tried the 3-key download boot, the hair-dryer thing, 3-key recovery also tried removing the battery then reinserting it, pluging in the usb cable while holding vol(+),(-) and nothing works. Been doing a little googling and apparently the 3-key boots don't work on some models, and I'm wondering if vodacom have removed the feature all together.

Was the 3 button recovery mode working before you started the whole procedure?

And you are hundred percent sure if you hold down the power, home and vol down you dont atleast get into download mode? Try holding them down again for 15min. Cause if you can get into dl mode, youre saving a lot of hassles.

remove battery
hold vol buttons
plug into usb
re-insert battery

see if that works

not sure on the vol keys combo but as far as i know, you only re-insert the battery after plugging into USB

*i may be wrong, but its worth a try

I'm not sure the jig will work if you didn't have download mode before the brick....

Agreed. I would think, taking it in would be a much better option.
