Retrenchments at Web Africa

So I heard from my cousin, whose boyfriend works at Web Africa, that they retrenched half their staff not too long ago.

Has anyone else heard about this? Any news on mybb? Any comments?
 
WA is an absolute joke, i feel sorry for people losing their jobs but would not mind seeing this abomination of an isp going under
 
Hi miyagidono,

It was around 10% of our staff, and it was back in Sep. Unfortunate, but with the increased competition in our space belts had to be tightened.

I never knew myBB reported on retrenchments.

IMO-Webafrica has one of the best networks latency . I'm with Mweb and use WA for backup and WoW now and then :)

I see. I'll let my cousin know that her boyfriend should get his facts straight.
 
I have been with WA for almost a year now. Their service level is great, latency is great. I don't know what your problem is with them but imo they are one of the best isp's! Sorry to hear about the retrenchments though!

How do you tighten your belt when you are gorging yourselves into a coma on the overpriced bandwidth you selling?

So being competitive wasn't an option then.
 
Sad that what was a great company now is lagging behind.
Hope WA comes to their senses soon about uncapped, it is the future and we do need competition in that area as IS is seeming to do quite a shoddy job of providing competition
 
Whilst WA is not perfect and their customer focus is interesting to say the least, the bandwidth is of good quality and I have had hardly any down time with them. I think it is very harsh of the OP to make some of the comments he did
